The Mobility Week took place from 16-22 September and aimed at raising awareness on cities’ mobility challenges. Under the slogan ‘Mix and Move’, the European initiative encouraged stakeholders to organise events related to multimodal means of transport which was the topic of this year’s campaign.
In this context, the Municipality IX of Rome, one of the 21 ELVITEN partners coordinated the event that attracted close to 250 high school students from the Liceo Majorana. From 16 to 21 September, students had the opportunity to test 10 electric bikes in the urban environment of the Italian capital. They shared their experiences on social media following the hashtag #smash4majorana.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Horizon 2020 project Smash and the private company Askoll, which provided the e-bikes. This Italian company specialised in electromobility, also integrated the Greenspider Gmbh technology for the geo-referencing of the vehicles as well as the ‘smart locks’ and a dedicated app for students to be able to use the e-bikes.
