Eco – Fest 2020 was a three – days celebration dedicated to Green Cities, Sustainable Development and Electromobility, aiming to feature the societal benefits of environmentally active citizens, the environmental and financial benefits of implementing ecologic solutions in energy and transport, the new and friendly to the environment technologies and goods, the tendencies and innovations in the electromobility sector. The event took place in Technopolis, Athens on 18, 19 & 20 of January 2020 in a three – days festival, full of educational and entertaining activities addressing citizens of all age groups and policy makers.
Eco – Fest 2020 is a unique networking event, whose main goal is to get all readily applicable and functional technological solutions in touch with authorities in order to develop more friendly, smart and safe cities. For this very reason, the two conferences that were held during the festival were linked to both smart cities and eco-mobility, as well as to financial and political solutions for the implementation in municipalities and citizens’ daily life.
ELVITEN project coordinator ICCS participated in the exhibition with a booth dedicated to two electromobility projects, ELVITEN and NEMO. The ICCS’s booth attracted many visitors, who expressed their interest to know more about the future of transport in Europe. Among others, the Mayor of Athens, Mr. Kostas Bakoyannis, as well as the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis and the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Mrs. Niki Kerameus, visited the booth, expressed their interest and discussed with ICCS members research outcomes and how they could be integrated into citizens’ daily life in order to improve it.
Overall, the event attracted more than 400 visitors and gave ICCS the opportunity to present key EU activities on electromobility, present the important benefits of Light Electric Vehicles use for urban transportation and discuss the citizens’ real needs for future mobility.
