The call for applications to the 9th edition of the SUMP Award is now open. This year’s award will focus on sustainable urban mobility planning (SUMP) which includes aims to create zero-emission and inclusive transport. The topical focus is based on this year’s EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK theme, which puts the spotlight on zero emission mobility for all.
The European Commission’s award for sustainable urban mobility planning was launched in 2012 with the aim to encourage the adoption of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) by local authorities across Europe and to reward outstanding achievements in each year’s thematic priority area.
The SUMP Award is separate to the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award, but remains complementary. The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award is given to municipalities for their outstanding activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK on 16-22 September, whereas the SUMP Award recognises local and regional authorities for excellence in sustainable urban mobility planning.
